The Commanders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Ricky Pearsall fell into the 225th pick. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Braswell to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 4 they get a building block for the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Nate Wiggins in Round 2, Pick 4; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They liked Chris Braswell enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 37. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A tidy little value on Tyler Guyton in pick No. 68, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Zach Frazier at the 100th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid sticker price for Luke Lachey in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Mohamed Kamara in pick 141 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nothing to complain about; Dorian Singer went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Ricky Pearsall here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
