The rest of the league will want that one back. Javon Foster tumbling to the Chiefs in Round 3, Pick 26 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a matchup problem out wide at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board fumbled Emeka Egbuka all the way to slot 57, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Javon Foster reach Round 3, Pick 26 and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Cedric Gray in pick No. 125, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
BJ Mayes at No. 167 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Fair-plus on Lathan Ransom, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Tyler Batty at the 175th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jake Briningstool at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
