Green Bay Packers

Best value of the weekend goes to the Packers for Brade: B-.

by b · 2024 NFL Draft · 12 picks · 3 steals · 4 reaches

The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Beau Brade fell into slot 169.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Hardy has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 27
Cooper DeJean at the 25th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 49
They went early on Edgerrin Cooper in No. 41, and the value did not follow. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Zach Frazier · C · rank 62
They paid sticker price for Zach Frazier in pick 58, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Michael Hall Jr. · DT · rank 82
A tidy bit of business in the Round 3 slot, where Michael Hall Jr. graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.33 · Pick 96 · Kris Abrams-Draine · CB · rank 81
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kris Abrams-Draine in Round 3, Pick 33. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.16 · Pick 116 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 128
The board had cheaper options than Isaac Guerendo at slot 116, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 131
They took Sataoa Laumea at par in pick No. 126, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Beau Brade · S · rank 134
Beau Brade at the 169th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Curtis Jacobs · LB · rank 198
Curtis Jacobs at pick 202 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 217
No drama and no debate, Garret Greenfield went about where he belonged in pick No. 219. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Darius Muasau · LB · rank 261
Darius Muasau at the Round 7 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Daequan Hardy · CB · rank 276
This one needs a full-page explanation: Daequan Hardy in No. 255, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
