Nobody else had Omar Speights anywhere near the Round 7 slot. The Packers did, by 86 spots, and that gap is the whole story. The bottom line is a respectable B.
However the rest shakes out, Lassiter at that price is a win they earned. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. DeShon Elliott gives the group a proven body among the projects.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Edgerrin Cooper in pick 41 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Kamari Lassiter worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Fair-plus on Jaden Hicks, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They paid up for Christian Mahogany at the 91st overall pick when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid sticker price for Isaac Guerendo in pick No. 126, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Sione Vaki at the 169th pick is the proof. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A tidy little value on Curtis Jacobs in pick No. 202, a step better than break-even. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
They did well to land Garret Greenfield in pick 219, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
No edge and no loss on Marcellas Dial in No. 245; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Omar Speights at Round 7, Pick 35 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
