Nobody else had Zion Logue anywhere near the Round 6 slot. The Chiefs did, by 41 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Hopper falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 31 they get a sticky cover corner. Need was not the driver here.
Patrick Paul in slot 63 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Value with a capital V on Roman Wilson in No. 94, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Jordan Travis in the 131st pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jaylin Simpson at the 161st overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Circle this one: Ty'Ron Hopper at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jaylan Ford at the 175th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached into another round for Zion Logue, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They talked themselves into Jordan Whittington at slot 252, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
