They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
If Ali pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick-by-Pick
Marvin Harrison Jr. at slot 5 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
They barely believed it either: Tyler Guyton still on the board at pick 68. The roster fit checks out.
Patrick Paul in the 69th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jamari Thrash at No. 106 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Beau Brade at Round 4, Pick 8 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Max Melton slid further than he should have, and pick No. 123 is lovely value for the cornerback. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A big swing on Rasheen Ali at the 185th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
