For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The 49ers walked out of the weekend still thin at running back, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McCoy. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.27 · Pick 27 · Jermod McCoy · CB · rank 18
In the 27th overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Emmanuel McNeil-Warren · S · rank 51
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in pick 58 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Jude Bowry · OT · rank 123
A tidy little value on Jude Bowry in slot 127, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · DeMonte Capehart · DT · rank 131
DeMonte Capehart at the 133rd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.38 · Pick 138 · CJ Daniels · WR · rank 138
CJ Daniels in Round 4, Pick 38 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.39 · Pick 139 · Eli Raridon · TE · rank 133
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 4 slot with a little surplus value in Eli Raridon. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
