The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Chargers reached some 27 spots for Carson Steele, and value like that does not grow back.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The Wilson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
No edge and no loss on Chop Robinson in the 37th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Jermaine Burton went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good price on Jackson Powers-Johnson in No. 69, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
