The tape said wait; the Dolphins did not. Eric Gentry went at the 238th overall pick, a good 114 picks before the board was ready. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Landing McNeil-Warren that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In the end it comes back to Arvell Reese, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
They will replay Arvell Reese at the 30th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Emmanuel Pregnon at the 45th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The roster fit checks out.
Anthony Hill Jr. slipping to Round 2, Pick 15 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at pick No. 75 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.

Domani Jackson at Round 5, Pick 25 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A real head-scratcher, Taylen Green in slot 168 is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jeff Caldwell at No. 174 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach on Ephesians Prysock in pick No. 182; the board had better options right there. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
John Michael Gyllenborg in the Round 7 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached into another round for Adam Randall, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They reached a country mile for Eric Gentry at Round 7, Pick 22, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
