It is the swing that defines the weekend: Eric Gentry in pick 246, a good 106 spots before the room expected him.
The McNeil-Warren pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th pick they get a lead back with juice, outstanding value to boot.
A premium they did not need to pay, Gabe Jacas a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A wild overpay on Dani Dennis-Sutton in the Round 2 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Ted Hurst in slot 75 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in Round 3, Pick 28 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They reached into another round for Michael Trigg, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Jacob Rodriguez in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Devin Moore at the 111th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Drew Allar. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They jumped the gun on Demond Claiborne, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value with a capital V on Dametrious Crownover in pick No. 152, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Domani Jackson at slot 170, value and slot in agreement. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
A tidy little value on Jeff Caldwell in Round 6, Pick 14, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ephesians Prysock at No. 209 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Dallen Bentley at the Round 6 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value said wait; Travis Burke in the 223rd overall pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A big swing on Micah Morris at pick No. 227, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
Adam Randall at slot 238 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Eric Gentry at No. 246 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
