Green Bay Packers

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Packers: B-.

The Packers bet big and early on Jaylon Carlies, 68 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

On value alone, Wright makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · JC Latham · OT · rank 15
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Malachi Corley · WR · rank 50
They went early on Malachi Corley in No. 41, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 62
A straight-up fair deal on Jaden Hicks at pick No. 58, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 59
They barely believed it either: Jaylen Wright still on the board at slot 88. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Andru Phillips · CB · rank 77
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Andru Phillips at the 91st pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 151
They talked themselves into Trevin Wallace at the 126th overall pick, and the board did not agree. A minor itch, scratched.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Jordan Magee · LB · rank 161
Jordan Magee at the 169th pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Jaylon Carlies · S · rank 270
Jaylon Carlies at Round 6, Pick 27 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 229
The board had cheaper options than Garret Greenfield at the 219th overall pick, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Ryan Watts · CB · rank 233
Ryan Watts in pick No. 245 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Frank Crum · OT · rank 254
Frank Crum in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
