The Eric Gentry pick is the one that will follow the Dolphins into the fall. They took him 125 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
On value alone, Lew makes the weekend a net positive. With running back unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.
The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Derrick Moore in No. 59 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ted Hurst in the Round 3 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Malachi Fields in the 84th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They robbed the room for Keionte Scott here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Eli Stowers in Round 3, Pick 26 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A edge rusher of that caliber at the 91st overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Treydan Stukes adds a cornerback and leaves running back untouched.
A want over a need in Round 3, Pick 30: Devin Moore adds a cornerback while running back keeps waiting.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Michael Trigg this early at the 95th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A wild overpay on Drew Allar in No. 112, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board fumbled Connor Lew all the way to the 120th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Isaiah World at slot 130 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Travis Burke in pick 151 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taylen Green at the Round 5 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Dametrious Crownover in the 155th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Eric Gentry. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Robert Spears-Jennings. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A real head-scratcher, Deven Eastern in Round 7, Pick 22 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
