The Dolphins went off the board in a big way for Dasan McCullough, 61 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
The Scott value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The Dolphins clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
In the end it comes back to KC Concepcion, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In pick No. 31 they get a weapon on the perimeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ted Hurst well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Bryce Lance at the 75th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A wild overpay on Michael Trigg in pick 87, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Sam Roush in No. 90 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
They robbed the room for Keionte Scott here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They went early on Jalen Farmer in the 95th pick, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Isaiah World at slot 108 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Travis Burke at Round 4, Pick 30 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Nothing to complain about; Dametrious Crownover went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Fair-plus on Demond Claiborne, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They jumped the gun on Eli Heidenreich, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for Adam Randall at No. 238, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
John Michael Gyllenborg at the Round 7 slot is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
