You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Dolphins did exactly that with Eric Gentry in the Round 7 slot. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Stowers at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They reached a country mile for Ted Hurst at the 45th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Bryce Lance. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board fumbled Eli Stowers all the way to pick No. 87, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Michael Trigg at slot 90 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
Drew Allar at No. 92 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jalen Farmer a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A real head-scratcher, Dametrious Crownover in the 112th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Isaiah World at the 130th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A wild overpay on Travis Burke in pick 151, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Eric Gentry in slot 227, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Adam Randall in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
