You can hear the double-takes from here. The Dolphins took Adam Randall at the 238th pick, roughly 44 spots before his name belonged.
Getting Price where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a long-term starter on the line, reach and all. A real need, handled.
Emmanuel Pregnon in the Round 1 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No edge and no loss on Max Iheanachor in the 43rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Ted Hurst in pick 75 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board fumbled Jake Slaughter all the way to No. 87, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jadarian Price at slot 91 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
Value with a capital V on Malachi Fields in Round 3, Pick 30, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Oscar Delp in the 130th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value said wait; Jeff Caldwell in pick 151 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached into another round for Taylen Green, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid up for Jaren Kanak at the Round 7 slot when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Adam Randall at the 238th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
