The Dolphins put a flag in the ground for Isaiah World, 53 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
However the rest shakes out, Lew at that price is a win they earned. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 18 they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
They did well to land Emmanuel Pregnon in Round 2, Pick 11, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They jumped the gun on Ted Hurst, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Bryce Lance in slot 90 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Isaiah World at the Round 3 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value said wait; Dametrious Crownover in No. 95 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
A clean, defensible pick in the 120th pick with a little surplus value in Michael Trigg. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Connor Lew in No. 130 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on Drew Allar in pick 151; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No drama and no debate, Jeff Caldwell went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 10. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ephesians Prysock at the Round 6 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jaren Kanak a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They took John Michael Gyllenborg at par in slot 238, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Eli Heidenreich at pick No. 255 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
