Thirty-one other rooms let Xavier Restrepo slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at slot 209. Highway robbery. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 12 they get a double-digit-sack hope. Need was not the driver here.
Circle this one: Walter Nolen at the 43rd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They barely believed it either: Ashton Jeanty still on the board at No. 74. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They robbed the room for Wyatt Milum here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a cornerback like Jahdae Barron reach pick 168 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Steal is underselling it; Tre Harris at slot 170 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Somehow Jihaad Campbell was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Quinshon Judkins in Round 6, Pick 11 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Xavier Restrepo at the 209th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
