There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Dolphins started one anyway for Taylen Green, 91 picks ahead of schedule. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Styles at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
The dealing was even money, start to finish.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In slot 30 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dillon Thieneman at No. 43. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Brian Parker II in pick No. 75 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tyreak Sapp at Round 3, Pick 23 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
By-the-book stuff, Deion Burks at the 90th pick squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taylen Green at No. 94 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A real head-scratcher, Zane Durant in the Round 5 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached into another round for Nick Barrett, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Eli Heidenreich at Round 7, Pick 22 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
