The Vikings went off the board in a big way for Andrew Raym, 62 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
Whatever Drake Maye becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get a long-term answer under center. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Leonard Taylor III at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Sataoa Laumea at the 129th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A real head-scratcher, Khristian Boyd in pick No. 137 is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They will replay Jacob Cowing at pick 167 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Andrew Raym at Round 6, Pick 2 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value said wait; Kimani Vidal in the 230th overall pick says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They read the board right and Jordan Magee was the payoff at the 232nd pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
