When a board-topper like Roger Rosengarten slides to the 206th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Chiefs did not. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 28th pick they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Xavier Worthy slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 28 is lovely value for the wide receiver. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No drama and no debate, McKinnley Jackson went about where he belonged in No. 91. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Javon Foster in pick No. 128 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
LaDarius Henderson at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nice patience on Ty'Ron Hopper, who had no business lasting to pick 172. It fills a real need, too.
Taking Moose Muhammad III in the 175th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Roger Rosengarten at slot 206 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Joshua Gray in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
