If confidence were a draft strategy, the Broncos would have aced it. Isaac Smith at pick 257 is 24 spots clear of where he belonged.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Landing Roush that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
They let Jacob Rodriguez come to them and pounced at the 62nd overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Sam Roush in Round 4, Pick 8 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nothing to complain about; Darrell Jackson Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They took Travis Burke at par in the 170th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Eli Heidenreich at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jack Kelly in No. 256 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A big swing on Isaac Smith at pick 257, well ahead of any board in the building. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
