The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cowboys reached some 37 spots for Nick Gargiulo, and value like that does not grow back. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. They banked enough surplus on Wallace to cover a lot of smaller sins. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a potential shutdown corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 24: Roman Wilson for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dominick Puni. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Javion Cohen in pick No. 174 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Caedan Wallace was still sitting there in the 230th overall pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tylan Grable at the 232nd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
LaDarius Henderson in No. 233 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached a country mile for Nick Gargiulo at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
