If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the 49ers, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
They will need Llewellyn to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. However the rest shakes out, Jones at that price is a win they earned.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
A quiet steal in pick 68: Eli Stowers for less than the market said. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Logan Jones slid further than he should have, and pick No. 108 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Max Llewellyn in No. 127 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Skyler Gill-Howard at slot 133 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Hezekiah Masses at the 138th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor itch, scratched.
