The Packers' one glaring miss is edge rusher, a need they left exactly as they found it.
They banked enough surplus on Caldwell to cover a lot of smaller sins. Capehart has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Anthony Hill Jr. slid further than he should have, and No. 52 is lovely value for the linebacker. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Daylen Everette at the 84th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid up for DeMonte Capehart at pick 120 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No edge and no loss on Jalen Farmer in slot 160; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They will replay Jeff Caldwell at the 201st overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They jumped the gun on Bryce Foster, taking him earlier than his grade liked. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
By-the-book stuff, Jalon Daniels at pick 255 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
