You build a draft on nights like this. Kurtis Rourke had no business being available in No. 170, and the Cowboys did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a three-down runner, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
No drama and no debate, JT Tuimoloau went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 12. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Deone Walker is a better player than No. 76 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Nick Nash at the 150th pick is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kurtis Rourke in pick 170 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Damien Martinez in pick No. 172 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.

A straight-up fair deal on Nazir Stackhouse at slot 190, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy bit of business in No. 211, where Jack Kiser graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Torricelli Simpkins III. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
