This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jake Briningstool, the No. 159 name on the board, stolen at No. 219. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
The Monheim pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Emeka Egbuka at pick No. 38 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Somehow Aireontae Ersery was still sitting there in slot 69, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A premium they did not need to pay, Andrew Mukuba a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Taking Ozzy Trapilo in No. 105 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board had cheaper options than Jonah Monheim at the Round 5 slot, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jake Briningstool in the 219th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Ollie Gordon II at the 222nd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A running back of that caliber at the 240th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
