The phones were a trap the Dolphins kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
They will answer for taking cornerback early while quarterback and tight end went begging. Getting Trice where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 21 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value.
T'Vondre Sweat at Round 2, Pick 23 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Bralen Trice in the 89th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Khyree Jackson at cornerback with quarterback and tight end open.
No drama and no debate, Christian Mahogany went about where he belonged in the 92nd pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Johnny Wilson at pick No. 138 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for Kitan Oladapo in slot 158, and that is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They took Steele Chambers at par in the 184th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Daijun Edwards at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tyler Owens slipping to the 241st overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
