Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Myles Harden, the No. 168 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 245.
The Gant reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a building block for the line, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Payton Wilson at pick 41 squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Adisa Isaac in the 58th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Roger Rosengarten at pick No. 88 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They read the board right and Dadrion Taylor-Demerson was the payoff at the 91st overall pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Isaac Guerendo in Round 4, Pick 26 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jordan Jefferson at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They let Dominique Hampton come to them and pounced at No. 202. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Tanner McLachlan slipping to the 219th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 245th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They talked themselves into Dallas Gant at No. 255, and the board did not agree. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
