The rest of the league will want that one back. Malik Mustapha tumbling to the Chiefs in the Round 5 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Magee has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
A conviction pick on Michael Hall Jr. at pick No. 64 that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
By-the-book stuff, Roger Rosengarten at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jordan Magee well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Circle this one: Malik Mustapha at the 159th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Josh Newton in slot 173 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
