The rest of the league will want that one back. Ja'Kobi Lane tumbling to the Bears in Round 4, Pick 29 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Foster has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Peter Woods at the 25th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They went early on Romello Height in No. 57, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A.J. Haulcy at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Davison Igbinosun at Round 3, Pick 27 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ja'Kobi Lane in pick 129, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Aamil Wagner in slot 182. The roster fit checks out.
A reach for Jeremiah Wright in pick No. 220; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Latrell McCutchin Sr. in the 239th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A wild overpay on Bryce Foster in Round 7, Pick 25, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
