Start where it matters. The Raiders took Michael Penix Jr. to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 9 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
No drama and no debate, Xavier Worthy went about where he belonged in slot 44. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Christian Haynes in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Khyree Jackson in No. 112 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Beaux Limmer at pick 150 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
JD Bertrand in the 190th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
By-the-book stuff, Jeremy Flax at Round 7, Pick 14 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
