They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Michael Penix Jr. is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Jacobs pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Michael Penix Jr. in Round 1, Pick 9, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Worthy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Christian Haynes in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid a round early for Jarrian Jones in the 112th overall pick, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They let Jaheim Bell come to them and pounced at pick No. 150. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A slide stopped in pick 190, with Curtis Jacobs worth more than the price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Blake Watson at slot 234 is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
