Somebody in Round 5, Pick 11 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Tory Horton, the No. 110 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get a potential shutdown corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No drama and no debate, T.J. Sanders went about where he belonged in pick No. 44. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Tre Harris was still sitting there in slot 76, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tory Horton in the 149th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid sticker price for JJ Pegues in the 170th overall pick, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Taking Mitchell Evans in No. 171 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Circle this one: Kurtis Rourke at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Cobee Bryant in Round 6, Pick 12 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
