You could see the war room lean forward. Deontae Lawson at slot 143 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
Jackson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 30 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Donovan Jackson at the Round 2 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They did well to land Alfred Collins in the 69th pick, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jared Ivey at pick No. 77 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Mason Taylor in Round 4, Pick 3. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
