The tape said wait; the Patriots did not. Jasheen Davis went at the Round 7 slot, a good 139 picks before the board was ready.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
On value alone, Jackson makes the weekend a net positive. The Patriots clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Bottom line, with Mykel Williams leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get a bendy edge with upside, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Matthew Golden at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.

Jasheen Davis in the 222nd pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
John Williams at pick No. 240 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
