The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
That Berger pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Chop Robinson in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Malachi Corley at Round 3, Pick 4 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Mason McCormick at pick 104 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in the 169th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nice patience on Jalen Berger, who had no business lasting to pick No. 229. The roster fit checks out.
