The Patriots spent real capital to be 41 picks early on Bryson Nesbit, and the board is going to hold them to it.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Henderson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get protection for the quarterback, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
A tidy bit of business in Round 2, Pick 6, where Colston Loveland graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
Jihaad Campbell in the 45th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing TreVeyon Henderson in the 69th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They read the board right and Andrew Mukuba was the payoff at slot 97. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Anthony Belton at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Seth McLaughlin this early at pick No. 144. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No edge and no loss on Alijah Huzzie in pick 217; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A premium they did not need to pay, Cam Jackson a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Bryson Nesbit at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
