You could see the war room lean forward. Jay Higgins at slot 225 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

They are betting Rogers proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. The Moore pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with wide receiver, edge rusher and other spots still on the board.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.14 · Pick 14 · Mason Graham · DT · rank 7
In pick 14 they get a load in the middle. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.17 · Pick 49 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 19
Circle this one: Nick Emmanwori at the Round 2 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.34 · Pick 98 · Malachi Moore · S · rank 75
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Malachi Moore at safety with wide receiver, edge rusher and other spots open.
R3.35 · Pick 99 · Luke Kandra · OG · rank 111
Luke Kandra at the 99th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.15 · Pick 116 · Barrett Carter · LB · rank 86
You do not let a linebacker like Barrett Carter reach Round 4, Pick 15 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.12 · Pick 150 · Chris Paul Jr. · LB · rank 119
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 150 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.20 · Pick 158 · Jaeden Roberts · OG · rank 163
By-the-book stuff, Jaeden Roberts at slot 158 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
R7.11 · Pick 225 · Jay Higgins · LB · rank 126
Jay Higgins at the 225th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.18 · Pick 232 · Quincy Riley · CB · rank 230
Quincy Riley in the 232nd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R7.37 · Pick 251 · Will Rogers · QB · rank 340
They reached a country mile for Will Rogers at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
