The tape said wait; the Cowboys did not. Thor Griffith went at slot 249, a good 61 picks before the board was ready. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The Simon steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a lead back with juice at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
A reach on Jaxson Dart in Round 2, Pick 12; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They read the board right and Xavier Restrepo was the payoff at the 76th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value said wait; Elijah Roberts in No. 150 says they were not listening. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid a round early for Simeon Barrow Jr. in slot 170, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Cody Simon at pick 172 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A premium they did not need to pay, JJ Pegues a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Connor Colby in pick 190. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on CJ West. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached a country mile for Thor Griffith at the 249th pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
