The Cowboys lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. It bottoms out at a F.
Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. The Worthy reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with tight end still staring back at them.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 5 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
In No. 24 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In slot 27 they get a true top target, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
They liked Jonathon Brooks enough to skip the value, taking him in the 35th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Good price on Kris Jenkins in the 56th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Kingsley Suamataia in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Calen Bullock. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
No drama and no debate, Jaylan Ford went about where he belonged in pick No. 216. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
