Nobody had Eli Heidenreich this high, and it is not close. The Commanders reached 28 spots to get him at Round 7, Pick 7.
Igbinosun at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a ballhawk on the back end at fair value.
Bryce Lance at pick No. 87 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Davison Igbinosun in slot 99 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Trey Zuhn III in the 131st pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nice patience on DeMonte Capehart, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 7. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Cyrus Allen in pick 187 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They liked Jadon Canady enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 209. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Eli Heidenreich. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
