Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Commanders came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The Prysock pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a three-down second-level presence, even if it was a touch early.
Dillon Thieneman at pick No. 43 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Keionte Scott in the 71st pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Parker Brailsford is a better player than slot 147 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Jeff Caldwell in No. 187, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 209th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Noah Whittington in Round 7, Pick 7 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
