The rest of the league will want that one back. Genesis Smith tumbling to the Commanders in the 147th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
So much rides on Sonny Styles that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a three-down second-level presence at fair value.
LT Overton in pick 58 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Keionte Scott in the 71st overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ja'Kobi Lane in pick No. 127, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Genesis Smith in the Round 5 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Circle this one: Zxavian Harris at No. 187 is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
VJ Payne slipping to slot 209 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
A straight-up fair deal on Noah Whittington at the 223rd pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
