Whoever sat across the table from the Commanders should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Davis. They will need Allen to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get a green-dot type in the middle at fair value. More want than need.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dillon Thieneman at Round 2, Pick 13. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Bryce Lance at pick 71 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tacario Davis at the 130th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They talked themselves into Cyrus Allen at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Ephesians Prysock went about where he belonged in pick No. 187. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
J'Mari Taylor slid further than he should have, and slot 209 is lovely value for the running back. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A clean, defensible pick in the 223rd pick with a little surplus value in Riley Nowakowski. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
