Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Commanders were there to profit. Miles Kitselman, the No. 225 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 253. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They are betting Foster proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 7 they get a bell-cow for the offense at fair value. A real need, handled.
A wild overpay on Bryce Lance in the 71st overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy little value on Zxavian Harris in the Round 5 slot, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Ephesians Prysock at par in pick 187, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Jadon Canady in pick No. 209; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They liked Noah Whittington enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 211. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached a country mile for Bryce Foster at Round 7, Pick 7, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They talked themselves into Fernando Carmona at the 250th pick, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Miles Kitselman in the 253rd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
