Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kamari Ramsey got past him. The Commanders do not have to explain a thing at pick 103.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Claiborne proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Bradley Chubb gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Chris Johnson went about where he belonged in pick No. 33. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy bit of business in Round 2, Pick 32, where Christen Miller graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board had LT Overton higher than No. 71, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nice patience on Connor Lew, who had no business lasting to the 91st pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Somehow Kamari Ramsey was still sitting there in pick 103, and they pounced on premier safety value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A conviction pick on Malik Benson at the 132nd overall pick that the board grades a round light. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Isaiah World in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had cheaper options than Demond Claiborne at slot 147, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for Ephesians Prysock in pick No. 187, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nothing to complain about; Kaden Wetjen went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
