If confidence were a draft strategy, the Commanders would have aced it. Fernando Carmona at No. 224 is 53 spots clear of where he belonged.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On value alone, Masses makes the weekend a net positive.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 27 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, outstanding value to boot.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Malik Muhammad in Round 2, Pick 30, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Fair-plus on Jadarian Price, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Connor Lew in the 77th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A slide stopped in the 148th pick, with Hezekiah Masses worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Sawyer Robertson in pick 216. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Fernando Carmona. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
