Boards are made to be trusted, and the Commanders shredded theirs for Adam Randall. He came off 48 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A slide stopped in the 43rd overall pick, with Dillon Thieneman worth more than the price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Malik Muhammad in No. 71 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A conviction pick on Beau Stephens at Round 5, Pick 7 that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow Jeff Caldwell was still sitting there in slot 209, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A wild overpay on Bryce Foster in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Adam Randall this early at the 227th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
