Washington Commanders

Grand theft in the Round 5 slot: the Commanders steal Bernard and grade out a B-.

The Commanders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Germie Bernard fell into No. 147.

They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Reaching for Foster left real value on the table behind him.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.7 · Pick 7 · Caleb Downs · S · rank 1
In the Round 1 slot they get a ballhawk on the back end. Need was not the driver here.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Anthony Hill Jr. · LB · rank 38
They robbed the room for Anthony Hill Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R5.7 · Pick 147 · Germie Bernard · WR · rank 58
They will replay Germie Bernard at pick 147 for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.6 · Pick 187 · Domani Jackson · CB · rank 174
A quiet steal in No. 187: Domani Jackson for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.34 · Pick 215 · Cyrus Allen · WR · rank 166
Cyrus Allen in Round 6, Pick 34 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.7 · Pick 223 · Noah Whittington · RB · rank 224
Noah Whittington in slot 223 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.15 · Pick 231 · Bryce Foster · C · rank 251
A wild overpay on Bryce Foster in pick No. 231, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
