The war room fell hard for Darrell Jackson Jr., and it showed at pick 72: 31 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. The Nick Bolton deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 9 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Connor Lew at the Round 3 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for Darrell Jackson Jr. at the 72nd pick, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land Elijah Sarratt in the 80th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Bud Clark in slot 109. A minor need, but a need all the same.
De'Zhaun Stribling in pick No. 115 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Demond Claiborne in the 147th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value with a capital V on Beau Stephens in Round 5, Pick 27, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
